Amaretti (Italian pastry): Amaretti are very fragrant and crispy Italian cookies that are a variant of macaroons since they have a high proportion of egg white, and eggs, crushed almonds and icing sugar and amaretto liqueur.
In Tuscany, amaretti is served at tea time or with a sweet wine such as Vino Santo at aperitif time.
