Amanattō (Japanese cuisine): Amanattō is a Japanese confectionery. These are adzuki beans (or other legumes), cooked in a sugar syrup, dried and finally rolled in fine sugar.
This delicacy, first named amananattō (甘名納糖), before seeing its name shortened to amanattō, after the Second World War, was created by Hosoda Yasubei, during the Bunkyū era (1861-1863)(*) , in the Edo period (**).
