Seed sauce (African cuisine): Seed sauce is a red sauce prepared from the pulp of the oil palm fruit (Scientific name: Elaeis guineensis).
In West Africa, it accompanies fish, shellfish or meat dishes.
It is eaten either with white cassava paste (foutou) or with white rice.
It is similar to moambe from the Republic of Congo (called Nyembwe from Gabon) and Nigerian banga soup.
