Tannic: adj. In tasting, a tannic wine is a wine that contains a lot of tannins.
This is the characteristic of red wines with a solid tannic structure. They can then show a certain astringency and require time to round out. Not to be confused with hardness which describes an excess of tannins (or acidity). A tannic wine provides a slight feeling of dryness, roughness on the tongue or palate due to tannins.
