Tannat: Tannat is an emblematic black grape variety of Madiran * in association with Cabernet Franc and Fer-Sirvadou. It is a typically Gascon grape variety par excellence (from the Pyrenean foothills). Its name comes from the langue d'oc meaning tanned, a term perfectly adapted to the view of its extraordinary richness in tannin, the purplish color of its berries or the swarthy appearance of its foliage.
