Shōchū: Shōchū (焼酎, literally “distilled liquor”) is a Japanese alcoholic beverage distilled mainly from rice, barley, buckwheat, sweet potato or brown sugar but sometimes also chestnut, shiso… This eau-de -vie comes from Kyūshū in Japan and contains 20% to 45% alcohol.
