Potassium bitartrate (E336): locut. Salt present in the wine also called "gravel" which appears in the form of flakes at the bottom of the bottle. It is also known as cream of tartar or potassium acid tartrate. Storing wine at low temperature can cause the formation of a crystalline deposit of potassium bitartrate at the bottom of the bottle (tartaric precipitation). This in no way affects the quality of the wine. Just decant it.
