Loess: nm Loess is made up of powdery sedimentary deposits accumulated by the wind. Loess is mainly composed of silts (a mixture of sand, clay and silt). They give the landscape, especially in the Rhône Valley, a predominantly yellow-beige color. Between Vienne and Valence, the vine which covers the right bank of the Rhône sees its very steep granite slopes covered with loess as in Condrieu in particular ....
