Lias: nm Geological period also known as the Lower Jurassic. It extends between -200 and -176 million years. It is marked by the division of Pangea (a supercontinent that existed at the end of the Paleozoic and which then separated to give our current continents). From this period dates the formation of clayey limestone, marls (blue, grey, red, black) and clays constituting the lower level of the Jurassic system.
