Glycol: nm Glycol is a dialcohol or polyalcohol with twice the alcohol function (and not three times like glycerol). It is best known as antifreeze. The wine has traces of it, it brings viscosity and a sweet flavor. Artificially adding it to a wine is a fraudulent practice. In 1985 a huge scandal broke out in Austria. Some winegrowers had added diethylene glycol (antifreeze) to their dry white wines to make them syrupy....
