Flavescence dorée: locut. Flavescence dorée is this serious vine disease also called vine yellows. It is caused by a phytoplasma*, a micro-organism close to bacteria which is transmitted by an insect, the leafhopper of the flavescence dorée (or yellow leafhopper).
Not to be confused with the green leafhopper or leafhopper.
*the phytoplasma responsible for the disease was found in wild plants such as alder and clematis before contaminating the vines...
