Baumé (degree): The Baumé degree is an indirect unit of measurement of concentration, via density, discovered by Antoine Baumé in 1770. It is denoted by °B, °Be or °Bé.
The Baumé degree can thus measure the sugar content of the must allowing the calculation of its alcohol content. Baumé degrees are read using a mustimeter. The calculated potential alcohol content in the wort is, however, only approximate....
