Hoof (suppressor) : In ungulates (*), the hoof is a very developed nail, a kind of horny envelope which surrounds the end of the finger and rests when walking on a large sole.
The parts of the hoof of the horse and equines are: fork, gap, wall, claw, sole.
(*) Ungulate: Refers to animals whose feet are terminated by productions horny (nail, hoof, shoe).
Operation of the shoe: When the pied touches the ground, the heels move apart. Consequently, the cushioning function of the foot cannot be achieved without perfect elasticity of the hoof and the fibro-cartilage complementary as well as the fork. Solidity is ensured by the integrity of the fabric bony of the phalanges, the straightness of the plumbs and the perfect welding between the 3rd phalanx and the horny box by means of the chair puff pastry.
The hoof is the hoof of artiodactyls (ruminants, pigs) and proboscidians (elephants). Each foot pied two hooves.

However, some kitchens of the world use the hoof (cow, goat, buffalo ou mouton) like offal.
En India, we find the hoof in the stew paya and Turkey where it is used in the Soğuk paça (literally: cold trotter), a flat cold made of jelly obtained from hooves of mouton or cow.
