Phloem: nm The phloem is a conductive tissue of the so-called elaborate sap containing the organic substances obtained after photosynthesis. It is made up of dead cells at the end of their differentiation (the conductive elements or sieve tubes, fibers) and living cells (parenchyma cells, companion cells and, possibly, reserve cells). The term phloem is synonymous with liber.
