Nagelhout: Naegelholt (literally wooden nail) is a beef jerky made in the Netherlands.
It is air dried and may be smoked. It is a typical regional product that is still produced by a few butchers in the eastern Netherlands, especially in the provinces of Achterhoek, Twente, Salland and parts of Drenthe.
The meat, which preferably comes from the thigh muscle of an ox between two and four years old, must be hung for a long time...
