Monocotyledon: nf and adj. "Monocotyledon" refers to plants with a single cotyledon. Among the angiosperms or flowering plants, the Monocotyledons include plants whose typical seedling has only one cotyledon on the embryo, which evolves by giving a prefoliate (or eophyll).
