Lycoperdon: Lycoperdon is a genus of basidiomycete fungi in the Agaricaceae family that includes most of what is commonly referred to as puffball.
The name of the genus was constructed, in reverse etymology, on the term puffball by joining the Greek roots λύκος (wolf), and πέρδομαι (fart). The Lycoperdon is a globular or pear-shaped mushroom, without a foot or a cap.
