Crassucellated: adj. An ovum is said to be crassinucellate when the archegonial mother cell undergoes a first mitosis tangential to the epidermis. The upper daughter cell located near the micropyle is at the origin of a cap, more or less thick, homologous to the fern carpet. The lower cell is the mother cell of the megaspores. The cap then participates in the development of the nucellus and the ovum is said to be crassinucellate (thick nucellus).
