Angiosperm: nf and adj. (from the Greek "aggeion" = envelope and "sperma" = seed). An angiosperm is a higher plant whose ova are contained in the carpel (s) constituting the ovary (s) which transform (s) after fertilization into fruit (s). Refers to the division or branching of flowering plants. Synonym: Magnoliophyta.
