Fourme d'Ambert: Fourme d'Ambert is a French cheese from the Auvergne region (but also from the Loire department), originally created in the vicinity of Ambert in the Puy-de-Dôme department (See Map of Puy-de-Dôme below).
This cheese has benefited from a controlled designation of origin (AOC) since 1972 and is now subject to European protection under the AOP quality label: protected designation of origin, since 2006.
