Caesalpiniaceae: The Caesalpiniaceae (or Caesalpinioideae) subfamily is one of the three subfamilies of the Fabaceae (or Leguminosae) family. This subfamily does not exist in the classical classification (1981), which elevates this group to become the family Caesalpiniaceae.
These plants are lianas, shrubs and trees, mostly in the tropics and subtropics, but Cercis, Gleditsia and Gymnocladus are temperate region trees.
