Désaugiers (Marc Antoine): Marc Antoine Désaugiers is a French songwriter and poet (Fréjus 1772 - Paris 1827). Author of numerous table songs, he was secretary of the Modern Cellar, a Bacchic and gastronomic literary society. His philosophy is summed up in this verse in the form of an epitaph: "I want death to strike me In the middle of a big meal, That I am buried under the tablecloth Between four large dishes, And that on my grave one puts .. .
