Ausone: Ausone, of his full name Decimus Magnus Ausonius is a Latin poet and politician (Burdigala [Bordeaux] around 310 - ditto around 395). He was the tutor of the future Emperor Gratien (*).
One of his Idylls is devoted to the Moselle and the many fish that were caught there at the time. Appointed consul in 379, he retired in 383 near present-day Saint-Émilion.
